As Proverbs 31:10 begins, we as mothers, aunts, grandmothers, Godmothers, and female mentors have a responsibility to train up young ladies to be women of noble character so that one day they too may be able to “watch over the affairs of their households” (Prov. 31:27). The art of cooking for one’s family is certainly a life skill that is integral for women especially to learn while they are young. Being in the kitchen has traditionally and biblically been therapeutic and empowering in providing a place of peace, building self-confidence and for maintaining very open lines of communication between female generations.
Join INSPIRE by L.E.S.U.R.E., Inc. as we partner with Young Chefs Academy in hosting our “Grits & Oven Mitts” event for youth girls in grades 4-12 and their mothers/female guardians and/or mentors. This 2-hour Mothers’ Day weekend outreach will allow us to have casual conversations about what all goes down in the kitchen, as we learn how to throw down in the kitchen…capping off with some delicious taste testing!
